City of Joel

Film and Discussion
October 18, 4PM

City of Joel  a 2018 documentary film exploring tensions in Monroe, a  town 50 miles north of New York City where over 20,000 Yiddish-speaking Satmar Hasidim live.  With unprecedented access, filmmaker Jesse Sweet  presents people on all sides of a conflict - from religious zealots to dissidents, from rabbis to people who doubt their own faith as they struggle to find their place in the City of Joel.

Join us on Zoom Sunday, October 18, when Rabbi Broitman will discuss the film with the filmmaker, Jesse Sweet.  A Q&A will follow.

Watch the film before October 18 –   Available on Amazon Prime.
